Local rocker sets his sights on Peak Performance Maine
June 9, 2008[Updated 6/23]
More than 20 runners have signed up for the Peak Performance Maine Marathon 18-week training program, including local rocker Elijah Ocean of the band Loverless.
Elijah hits the airwaves this week on WCYY radio – and with weekly running web podcasts – detailing his experiences training for his first-ever marathon. Elijah has vowed that the marathon is going to “kick my butt or I’m going to kick its butt…” We’ll be posting Elijah’s podcasts at myPeakMultisport.com.
Elijah and about a dozen other would-be marathoners were out early Sunday morning (early enough to beat the heat) for their second group run with our running guru Jeanne Hackett.
Sunday’s run was a four-mile jaunt for the half-marathoners and runs of five and eight miles for those planning to race the full marathon in October.
It’s way not too late.
If you’re thinking about signing, up for the remaining 16 weeks, we highly recommend it. In addition to personalized training programs and kick-ass group runs, Jeanne’s lined up some great informational programs (on negative thinking, gait analysis, nutrition and other key topics). Plus at the end of Sunday’s run, she had fruit, bagels, great coffee and massages. Thanks, Jeanne!
